2019 BKF International Open Championships
The 2019 BKF International Open Championships was held at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell, Scotland, on the 21st and 22nd of September.
A big turnout once again at this prestigious tournament saw 15 different nations register to compete with over 1000 athlete entries for the staff and referees to cater for.
Top nation for this years tournament went to Scotland who won 45 Gold medals amassing a total of 163 medals. England were close behind on the Gold medal count winning 42 but way behind Scotland's 55 Silver medal count securing 33 which helped England secure a grand total of 135 medals. Third spot was claimed by Ireland ahead of Wales by a solitary Gold.
Top three clubs were an all-Scottish affair. Topping the club medal table was CEK Association scooping 12 Gold medals. Runner up was JKS Scotland who secured their haul of 10 Gold medals. A closely fought third went to Shitokai Scotland securing 9 Golds beating England's Yanagi-Kai by virtue of their Silver medal count, 7 to 4.

Also a big thank you to BKF Chief Referee Dale Gamble and his team of Referees and Judges who ensured each mat was officiated efficiently and also to Dave Inman and the medics ensuring any injuries were dealt with promptly and proficiently.
